Display systems manufactured by LG include plasma screen televisions, LCD televisions, OLED panels and computer monitors. The latest 47 Inch Hi-Definition TVs by LG include models with built in Freesat and Freeview, widescreen models, and 3D Ready models.

One 3D ready device is the LG 47LD920. Televisions like this have the ability to operate in a 3D mode (as well as traditional 2D). This works in conjunction with a source of 3D signals such as a set-top box receiving a 3D broadcast (e. G. A sporting event), and a pair of LCD shutter glasses.

The shutter glasses use an LCD technology which allows each eye in turn to be alternately darkened (obscured) in synchronism with the picture on the TV. The TV alternately displays the image as is should be seen from the perspective of the left and right eye, and the glasses ensure that each eye only sees the appropriate image. The viewer is then left with the impression of seeing the image in 3D.

3D content for viewing is already being broadcast on numerous channels around the world. The first channel is 3D was in Korea. In the UK, Sky have launched a selection of sports, entertainment events and films in 3D, and Virgin Media have launched a 3D TV on demand service. Fox Sports in Australia have broadcast international soccer, and other Australian networks have broadcast State of Origin matches in Rugby League. Other sources of 3D content include 3D capable Blu-Ray players, and video games.

As 3D TVs are high end consumer devices, they usually have many other advanced features, such as multiple HDMI inputs and built in freeview players. Major TV makers, including LG, predict that by 2012 3D TVs will account for half of their business.
